In Your Carry On: Dumbo Feather

This is the first in an ongoing series of recommendations on a variety of items that I love to take with me. The first thing that comes to mind is reading material, and many features will be on magazines that I love so much you’d think I gave birth to them. I recommend these reads whether you’re sitting still, sorting out your carry-on luggage, need to relax or just crave some fresh brain-food.
If you’re interested in buying any magazines I recommend Mag Nation for subscriptions, one off purchases and more recommendations. Their online store is easy to navigate with great service. If you’re lucky enough to live in Melbourne, Sydney or Auckland, visit one of their six retail stores that are glorious wonderlands for a great coffee and hassle-free browsing through some 4, 000 titles. Click on any of the covers below to buy.
With a title like Dumbo Feather, Pass It On your curiosity is already piqued before you pick it up. Released quarterly, the Dumbo Feather ‘mook’ (half magazine, half book) shares five assiduous interviews with people who love what they do. It is a refreshing read, especially if you’re tired of the perpetual ‘TGIF’ attitude. The chapters are engrossing and interspersed with creative channels of narrative that open your eyes to similarly remarkable people wherever you go.
Favourite features: Interviews of Kevin Roberts, CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi (Issue 4) and Magda Sayeg, guerilla knitter (Issue 24).
Remarkable because: The enterprising attitudes are infectious.
Buy it if you like: Interview, but tire of reading about celebrities.
